Synopsis: Tom West, the author of “The Most Interesting Man You Have Never Met” now takes you along on his adventures, and yes often times challenges, of driving an over-the-road big truck. This entertaining story covers his travels and that of his sometime sidekick, Le Roy, as they cover 46 of the 48 lower states from the East coast to the West coast and places in between, and navigate through all of the big cities, and some of the wildest backroads in the country.
Starting out his truck driver career during his high school years, he recalls hauling cattle, groceries, frozen foods, veggies of all kinds, and everything in between. But trucking was not his only calling in life. From being a farmer, rancher and cowboy to working in the oilfield, to a career as a vice president in banks and finally a card dealer in Las Vegas. And yet, he would turn to his driving skills that he learned early in life to restore his self-confidence and maintain his sanity.
And so, this story, some of which was written thirty years ago from a diary kept while driving for two different trucking companies, is written as it happened. But being southern, some of the facts could have gotten bigger in the rendition. Sometimes he may lean to the left, sometimes to the right, but he believes, at least in this country, it is better to drive “On The Right Side Of The Road.”
Married for 39 years, Tom and his wife have a very active life style with a bass boat, motorcycle, and roadster sports car. And of course, lots of traveling.
Now at 75-years-old, Tom has finished telling his trucking memoirs for all to enjoy.”
Tom West lives in east central Oklahoma. He retired from the casino business in 2007. After 20 years of living in the fast lane in Las Vegas Nevada, he calls the country his home and thoroughly enjoys it.
