Tom West

Oklahoma Author

Tom West authorWriter Tom West was born during World War II in southwestern Oklahoma.  His mother was a school teacher and his dad an Army Sergeant.  Most of Tom’s growing up years were in the Texas panhandle.  There he learned the value of a man’s word and a handshake.

Always ready for the next adventure, with a creative imagination, and determination, Tom made whatever change was necessary during his life. Tom has never said I can’t do that, instead I can, just watch me.

Tom started writing about his life experiences, although not diligently, shortly after retiring. It started as his history to pass onto his family. From his early days in Southwestern Oklahoma where he was born during World War II, to his retirement years, he has written about the many things he has done and seen, and the numerous people he has met along the way. Those who heard him talk about his life over the years have told him you are a very interesting person and you should write a book.  One such person was Dr. A.W. Sibley, an author himself.  He is the one who suggested the title for Tom’s book “The most interesting man you have never met.”

Today, Tom lives in east central Oklahoma after retiring from the casino business in 2007. Out of the fast lane and living in a small town. It has been a big difference from the 20 years living in Las Vegas Nevada and, he admits, very enjoyable.

Tom has been married for 39 years and he and his wife still have a very active life. They and their 2 chihuahuas, who are rescues, enjoy traveling and have met many great and interesting people along the way. Since Tom is a talker and hasn’t met a stranger yet, they hope to meet more people in the future.

He has also co-authored a book for the US Government published by the Washington National Press.  And, being a seasoned public speaker on economic development in Rural communities, Tom was asked to write a speech for a US Senator which was given to a joint session of Congress for which Tom received a Congressional Commendation signed by the then President.

Now at 75-years-old, Tom has finished telling his story for all to enjoy. Tom’s life has and is still interesting and exciting every day.
